Flatback syndrome or imbalance can occur after spine surgery. Symptoms such as pain, fatigue, a sensation of falling forward, and stooping can occur. Most people can compensate for this surgically-created imbalance; however, back pain and fatigue eventually become more and more severe and instability significantly increases. Corrective surgery for flatback syndrome is required to realign the spine to restore ideal balance.
